How do I join SA Kids Golf?

To join SA Kids Golf simply visit our registration page on the SA Kids Golf website, fill in your player details, upload player birth certificate, pay your registration fee and submit. Once approved, you will be eligible to play in SA Kids Golf Order of Merit tournaments.

Does a player need a handicap?

No. SA Kids Golf tournaments are all medal format. As such players do not need a handicap.

What is the SA Kids Golf age limit?

SA Kids Golf welcomes players from 5 years old to 18 years old. Both boys and girls are welcome to play in their respective groups.

How much does it cost to become a member and play?

Membership fees consist of annual fees that are reviewed every year. For 2024 the fees are R1750 to become a member and R1500 to renew your membership. For 9 hole players green fees are R390 and for 18 hole players the green fees are R460.

How do you calculate the Order of Merit?

The SA Kids Golf Order of Merit (OOM) is a summation of results for OOM applicable tournaments during the season. The order of merit is calculated by awarding points dependant on a player’s finishing positions in each of the season’s competitions as well as their stroke average per round.

When does the season run?

The SA Kids Golf Order of Merit season run from October of the current year and ends in September the following year.

I changed age groups mid-season. Do I still qualify?

Should a player change age groups mid-season their age group specific points will be recorded in the Order of Merit however they will only qualify for prize giving at the end of the year if they have the pre-requisite minimum of 8 games in either age group, with the age group where they have completed the most games taking precedence.

How many points are awarded per tournament?

First place at an Order of Merit event earns a player 200 points. Subsequent places receive lesser points in increments of minus 20. i.e 2nd Place – 180 points, 3rd place 160 points. In the event of a tie, points are shared equally.

What is the stroke average on the Order of Merit?

The stroke average calculate the average number of strokes a player hits per round of golf. Qualifying players with the lowest stroke average at the end of the season stand to be acknowledged accordingly at the annual prize giving ceremony.

Do the Junior Africa Challenge or World Qualifier count towards the OOM?

No. Major events like the Junior Africa Challenge, Parent/Child Competition and World Qualifier, IPT do not count towards the Order of Merit.
